During this exam period, some are going through a smooth ride while others are riding on a train of catastrophe. Whatever our ride is, anxiety remains our common adversary. Some may argue that “greatness is achieved in the face of adversity”, but although anxiety may be a form of motivation for some people, anxiety is often a distraction to achieving our goals.
I was again reminded that Philippians 4:6 says “in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”. The following verse says that the peace of God will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. This shows that God does not want us to be anxious, but instead we should turn to Him so that He can supply us.
May we be enlightened that this is a time that we need to strengthen our fellowship with God. When we come to God and fellowship with Him in prayer, God Himself as peace is infused into us as the antidote to anxiety. It’s in this way that the God of peace guards our hearts and thoughts, keeping us calm and at rest.
